About
Dear Wild was created by Chicago-based artist and designer Sarah Zimmer after seeing the joy that her hand-painted cards brought to family and friends. With a desire to share the happiness that nature, art, and color bring to everyday life, she launched her stationery and home goods brand in November of 2022. Each design draws inspiration from the vibrant beauty of the natural world, as well as the details she documents while traveling—vintage shop signs, hand-painted lettering, mosaics, and ornamental flourishes—reimagined into richly layered patterns for paper goods, textiles, and the home.
Creative Process
Every design begins with a place or feeling. Sarah gathers photographs from her travels—drawn to color, lettering, and ornamentation—and pairs them with written reflections to capture the mood of a place. From there, a palette and direction emerge. She begins with hand sketches, then builds each piece digitally, layering color, texture, and detail before refining it into a finished design.
